Beyond Prenatals: A Whole-Body Approach to Preparing for Pregnancy

Event Description

Preparing for pregnancy involves so much more than starting a generic prenatal vitamin. In this session, Dr. Leah (licensed naturopathic doctor and fertility consultant) and Natalie (Integrative genetic counselor, CGC, IFNCP) will share a whole-body approach to preconception health for both women and men.

Dr. Leah will discuss practical ways to support fertility and a healthy pregnancy through nutrition, lifestyle, targeted supplementation, stress management, and emotional and spiritual well-being.

Natalie will then explain how genetic testing before pregnancy, including carrier screening, family-history-based testing, and select nutrigenomic testing, can provide additional information to help couples make informed, proactive decisions. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of what can be addressed before conception and practical steps they can begin taking now.

Takeaways

  • Preparation can start well before a positive pregnancy test. Walk away with practical steps couples can consider in the months before conception, from foundational health habits to understanding family history and deciding whether genetic testing is appropriate.
