We want you to get care that doesn’t run on a timer

Board-certified genetic counselors are nationally credentialed experts in medical genetics and genomics who bridge cutting-edge science with clinical application, ensuring every patient receives evidence-based, personalized guidance. Trained not only in science but also in psychology and communication, they bring deep empathy and understanding to every patient conversation.

At Golden Genetics, we take that expertise a step further, combining clinical genetics with integrative and functional insights to create personalized plans that address the whole person, not just their DNA.

Our story began with our founder’s story.

Golden Genetics was founded by someone with a deep desire to change the story from treating disease to helping people stay well for life.

Our founder’s curiosity about holistic care began when her brother was diagnosed with neurodevelopmental conditions at a young age. She watched how targeted nutrition and supplementation transformed his mental health and that early experience shaped everything that came next.

Years later, she faced her own health struggles, and was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition. Once again, conventional medicine couldn’t provide the full picture but holistic healthcare, nutrition and lifestyle shifts could.

That belief became deeply personal when her own father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. As a daughter, she saw how little conversation there was around prevention or whole-person care, nutrition, lifestyle, and genetics were never part of the dialogue.

That was the turning point

She sought advanced training in integrative and functional health, determined to bridge the gap between genetic testing and true prevention and proactive care. She founded Golden Genetics with one mission: to use the power of your DNA to create a proactive, personalized roadmap for lifelong health.

Because your genes aren’t your life sentence, they’re your starting point.

Meet our team

Natalie Samson, MS, CGC, INHC

Founder & Board Certified Genetic Counselor

  • Natalie is a dedicated board certified genetic counselor devoted to transforming healthcare through personalized, integrative, and preventative approaches. She has obtained Integrative Health Certifications, as well as certifications in nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics. She established her own practice, Golden Genetics to introduce an integrative approach to genetic counseling and testing, combining it with nutrition and nutrigenomics. She focuses proactive genetic testing and nutrigenomics and her aim is to provide whole-person, personalized care in genetic counseling and testing.

  • Natalie will stop mid-sentence if she sees a cute dog while on a walk. She’s fueled by matcha lattes, recharged by the redwoods, & endlessly fascinated by all things longevity.

Sarah Upp, MS, CGC

Board Certified Genetic Counselor

  • Sarah is a board certified genetic counselor with a passion for patient empowerment and integrative genetics. She earned her Master’s in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received the Excellence in Counseling award for her cohort. With a background in applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy and childcare, Sarah has a special interest in pediatric and family-centered care. Her areas of expertise include autism spectrum disorder, hereditary cancers, pharmacogenomics, connective tissue disorders, and preconception counseling.

  • Sarah starts her mornings with two shots of espresso (ideally before speaking to anyone). She is mildly obsessed with hot yoga and long walks, and while she's energized by travel and adventure, she remains fiercely committed to cozy nights in.

Elizabeth Casey, BAS

Operations Manager

  • As a former special education teacher and case manager, Elizabeth holds exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills while supporting diverse patient needs. She applies that same dedication and attention to detail to optimizing internal processes and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.

  • Elizabeth is always curating the perfect playlist, thanks to her dad’s great taste in oldies. When she’s not keeping things on track, you’ll find her sipping espresso, breaking a sweat at pilates or hot yoga, or cooking up something delicious for the people she loves.

Amanda Garcia, NTP

Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

  • Amanda Garcia is a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who helps people transform their health through proactive, preventative care and actionable habit change. She works alongside patients to build sustainable routines, make empowered decisions, and cultivate longevity, while inspiring confidence and ownership in their personalized plan. Her mission is to make positive, lasting health changes feel achievable and approachable for everyone.

  • You can usually find me outside, soaking up the sun, reading a good book, or finding a good hike. My weekends are saved for riding bikes to the farmers market to get a good coffee and fresh sourdough loaf because I cannot figure out how to keep a starter alive despite growing up in the Tamagotchi era (millennial inside joke).
